After my downcast post the other day, I am so happy to report that I am now fully back to my old self! Quite a few of my friends contacted me to check on me, showing the reason I miss them and why I love them so much. But it was just a temporary blip and this week has been much more promising, I feel like my usual positive self again! All my friends are telling me that it's all cold and dark at home. So I shouldn't be moaning when I get to spend a few hours each day at the beach reading and sunbathing, even if I can only tan my front (no one there to put my factor 30 on my back).
Joining the gym had got the endorphins flowing again and given a bit more purpose to my day times. Work is now fun and making sense, and means that I can do a little guilt free shopping, loving Lorna Jane sportswear at the moment.
In more news this week, I came home from work yesterday to find that James had bought his longed for bean to cup coffee machine, and a juicer for me. Winner!
Having the internet at home means I can once again cruise Mail Online and I have caught up with the UK X Factor performances. I'm rooting for Little Mix, they are so fun!
Oh and I also forgot to mention that I accidentally set fire to a saucepan last week, James was not happy. For those of you that don't know, don't leave oil in a cheap K Mart frying pan unattended, and don't try to put it out with water. Lesson learnt.
We might be going Whale watching this weekend... I'll keep you posted!
Must dash, it's getting late and I have to get up early for Body Pump!

Happy birthday AND good luck to my BFF
This week is a very special one for my BFF - Katty. Not only does she hit her mid twenties today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAUTIFUL, but also she becomes a mrs on Thursday.
Sorry I can't be there to give you birthday bumps and watch you say 'I do'. I'll be there in spirit. Love you so much Kat, best girlfriend I could ask for. I'm so proud of you, the best mummy to your little boy and such a fantastic friend, always.

Ups and downs, and on the up again...
Good afternoon!
This past week has been a tricky one for me, I think I had a case of the 'one month in' blues. You'll probably look at all the photos of how beautiful it is here and think 'What? How can you possibly be feeling down?!' Don't get me wrong, I do love it here, and I especially love living with James.
I think it was a combination of things that got to me. At home I am so used to being busy; working full time, seeing all my lovely different friends, being with my Dad and Sister, gossiping with the girls at work, hitting the gym in the week. My life here is very different, I do find myself feeling a bit lonely at times and always can't wait for James to get back from work (which is a good thing). I know I'll make friends in time, it's just the waiting period that can be a bit tricky. We now have Internet and a land line so I can call and skype friends and family which does make me feel so much better.
My new job also got me down a bit, I had got used to my job at Care Choices and that comforting feeling that you know what you are doing! I had forgotten that new jobs, no matter what they are, are always tricky for the first few weeks while you learn the intricacies and people's quirks. I had a few shifts that didn't go very well and as usual took the comments/directions/warnings to heart and got all sensitive about it. Luckily by Wednesday I seemed to have it together and now only have minimal butterflies when walking to work! Fridays and Saturdays are fun to work as we usually have a few drinks after and a gossip.
On top of my friend withdrawal and work insecurities, I had to join the health service here and visit a doctor to get a lump checked out, the medical professionals here were great (much more understanding that some UK equivalents that I have experienced) and quickly referred me for an ultrasound. Of course it turned out to be fine, but the whole episode made me a bit tearful.
James has been the perfect boyfriend this week, he's always there for me and makes me laugh. He is blessed with such a rational mind but I know my sad face pulls him down too. One morning he took me to join the local library, having an armful of novels to read at the beach certainly cheered me up!
Anyway, enough with the misery! I've signed me and James up to a local gym, about a 10 minute run away, and went to Step this morning. Exercise always helps sort my mood out! A shopping trip with Ashley on Thursday, followed my Sushi helped do the trick too!
Here are some photos from the weekend...
James cooking me dinner by the beach before my shift on Saturday night...
The walk down to Coolum beach...
Coolum... so beautiful. BUT this is one of the places where swooping birds attack (apparently natural defensive behaviour). I practically have a heart attack everytime a bird flies overhead. Must buy a hat to deter. Sportsgirl have some nice ones...
xoxo Be back soon, with all happy news. I promise. xoxo

We love the weekend
Hello!
We've had a great week, things are really clicking into place and this is starting to feel like a proper life we have here. My waitressing job is going really well and I'm enjoying the busy shifts. The other girls are good fun and I think it'll make some friends through work. On Friday we stayed after close and had some wine together and a bit of a gossip, which I love!
James is also making friends through work and we've seen some of them outside of work this week. James now plays Monday Night Football - which is touch-rugby for SPIM (Supporting Men in Medicine). I went along on Monday last week and was forced to play as they were short of people, I was very confused and mainly just ran away from the ball and other players. Fortunately the rest of the team turned up and I tagged off the pitch!
At the weekend we explored Caloundra (Clown-town)...
We hit the Mooloolaba beach for some catch and swimming...
Saturday night we celebrated Halloween by dressing up as scary clowns! Ashley and her housemates had a party which was really fun and we met more interesting characters... The police turned at at 10pm to tell the DJ (DJ Pauly D) to turn the music down. The girl who answered the door asked if they were in costumes. They left pretty quick, my guess is they saw the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Man...
Sunday we chilled out, slightly hungover and James still looking like he had eyeliner on. We used the public BBQs by the beach with friends, followed by more catch, swimming and cards on the beach...
If all our weekends are like this, I can't wait for Friday!! xoxo

New developments
New job
After last week's dramatic quitting of my sales job, I refocused my job search on Mooloolaba to avoid hour long walks and travel costs. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday handing out CVs to shops and restaurants and had a trial shift on Thursday at a place which is 2 minutes from our unit. James and I had actually eaten there the week before with our friend Ashley (a Scottish doctor who works with James).
It's a really busy place and I had already been warned that there was no space for slow workers. I was a bit nervous at first as it was so fast paced but I got into it and really enjoyed it. There are all kind of nationalities working there and there is a good 'work hard, joke lots' kind of atmosphere. I got the job and my first proper shift is tonight! It's good pay and I have my fingers crossed for good tips! *smile*
I'm so pleased that I found work again quickly, I was starting to feel a bit down about it and wondering if it was going to be tricky. I found out that 'Peter' from my old job is actually banned from working the TV kiosk at the Sunshine Plaza (the closest mall to me) so I don't have to worry about seeing his face again!
New age
James turned 26 on Friday! Being a boy he's not that bothered about these things so I got excited for the both of us! I got up early and made him a fry up and to have as he opened his presents. I had already bought him some RayBans (which I may well end up stealing...) but I got him some little things to open. You always need something to unwrap! For someone now living in the Sunshine State he has surprisingly few summer clothes so I sorted that out!
When he got home from work we had a beach walk, some wine and the out for Morrocan food for dinner and then birthday cake. You always need candles to blow out and make a wish!
New car
The next morning we headed down to Brisbane to return the Honda and go car shopping. My cousin Sean was amazing and helped us out so much. Cars are so expensive here compared to the UK, but petrol and insurance are cheaper... We used carsales website to find our new 1999 Toyota Camri! He was a pricey old man. It's a 2.2 auto and all ours! When we arrived at the dealer there was an couple there haggling over the price so we took a quick test drive and just as Sean said 'We'll take it', the other guy sprung up and said I was just about to say that! Too late buddy!
We spent the whole weekend down in Brisbane, so great to spend time with my family, we had yummy food (a huge bowl of fresh seafood on Sunday, sausages for James as he's not a seafood fan! I now know how to peel a prawn the correct way), some guitar hero fun, a trip to Southbank and lots of fun with the kids. Sean's kids are so cute, I love them! When we went to Southbank they did that thing kids do in public places where they automatically put their hand into yours and they both wanted to hold my hand all afternoon. Adorable!
